The University of Sydney offers university-managed residences and seven residential colleges on its main Camperdown campus, with fully furnished rooms, three catered meals a day, and laundry services.
Costs range from approximately AUD 313 to 502 per week depending on room type. As spots are limited, applying early is strongly recommended. Students who prefer to live off campus will find plenty of shared apartments and private rentals in the nearby neighborhoods of Newtown, Glebe, and Camperdown.
Yes. All students without Australian citizenship need a valid Student visa (subclass 500). Once the university issues your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), you can apply through the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Requirements vary by nationality.

Yes. International students on an Australian student visa are legally required to hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the full duration of their studies. This is a visa condition. OSHC costs approximately AUD 600 per year and can be arranged through the university or an approved provider before arrival.

Yes. The University of Sydney awards over AUD 135 million in scholarships each year. For international students, the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship provides up to AUD 60,000 toward tuition fees, awarded on the basis of academic merit. Postgraduate research students can apply for the International Stipend Scholarship, which covers tuition fees and a living allowance of approximately AUD 42,754 per year.
