A semester at one of Korea’s top universities, plus a real work placement in Seoul. Here’s everything you need to know.
Most study abroad programs give you one thing: the academic experience. A semester of lectures, new friends, a new city. That’s already worth a lot. But for students who want to come back with something more — something that makes a concrete difference on a CV and in a job interview — the Hanyang University Work Experience Program goes further.
It’s one of the few programs that genuinely lets you study and work in South Korea at the same time. A semester at Hanyang University ERICA Campus, combined with a two-month placement at a real Korean company. Academic credits and professional experience, in one of the most exciting and career-relevant cities in Asia.
What is the Hanyang Work Experience Program?
The program is run exclusively through Asia Exchange in partnership with Hanyang University ERICA Campus, located in Ansan in the Seoul Capital Area. It combines two things students typically have to choose between: a semester of university study and a real-world work placement.
During the academic semester, you study at Hanyang University as a visiting student, choosing from a wide range of English-taught courses. Alongside or after your studies, you complete a non-paid practical training placement at a company in Seoul or Gyeonggi Province, working 20 to 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
By the end of the program, you receive two official documents: an academic transcript from Hanyang University and a certificate of completion from your host company. Together, they make for a significantly stronger CV than a standard semester abroad.

Why study and work in South Korea specifically?
South Korea has become one of the most sought-after destinations for internationally minded students — and not just for the culture or the food. Seoul is home to the Asian headquarters of major global companies, a thriving tech and startup scene, and a business culture that takes professionalism and ambition seriously. Getting real work experience inside that environment, rather than just observing it from a university campus, is genuinely valuable.
For students targeting careers in IT, marketing, business, or tech, a placement at a Korean company gives you exposure to a work culture and industry context that most of your peers simply won’t have. And the fact that it comes paired with a Hanyang University academic transcript makes the package unusually strong.
South Korea is home to some of the world’s most competitive companies in tech, e-commerce, and media. Getting your foot in the door while studying abroad is a head start most students don’t get.
About Hanyang University ERICA Campus
Hanyang University is one of South Korea’s most respected institutions, consistently ranked among the country’s top universities. The ERICA Campus — Education, Research, Industry Cluster — is specifically built around the connection between academic study and real industry. Students don’t just attend lectures. They work on real problems, collaborate in teams, and engage with Hanyang’s IC-PBL model, which links classroom learning directly to industry challenges.
The campus is in Ansan, in the Seoul Capital Area, close enough to Seoul for full access to everything the city offers, while still giving you the community feel that makes settling in easier. Dormitories are guaranteed for international students who request them.

What about life in Seoul?
Studying and working in Seoul means living in one of the most dynamic cities in the world. And because you’re there for a full semester rather than a short trip, you get the version of Seoul that most visitors never see: the neighbourhoods, the routines, the friendships that form when you’re actually living somewhere rather than passing through.
How to apply
Applications are handled through Beyond Abroad. The process is straightforward and done entirely online, with confirmations often within a day. The first four applicants to each intake receive a 200 EUR discount on tuition — applying early is worth it. The placement process starts around four months before the program begins, so the sooner you apply, the better your company match.
